The mission:
To ensure that the importance of the thermal water springs in Aachen is not forgotten, the Aachen 72° City Museum consulted us to revive them with an AR application. A new, unusual form of city tour was required that would immerse visitors in the history of the hot springs entirely without a physical tour guide.
The realization:
We implemented this project in the form of an AR Guide App, which visitors can simply start on their cell phones. A fully animated tourist guide leads through the historic city center for 1.5 kilometers and leads to ten interactive media stations full of history, short films, animations and holograms. Even dilapidated buildings are digitally restored with the help of AR.
The result:
The AR Aachen city tour makes the influences of the healing waters visible again. At the same time it offers a real highlight in the tourism sector: The urban space becomes a spectacular experience, the history a part of the present. The city could also benefit from the app in marketing and attract more visitors to the city.
